I was in Delfzijl before. Always the same hotel. This time a single room as I declared 2022 the year to be selfish…at least more selfish😊. I tried to sleep during the afternoon…didn’t work. In ‘my’ hotel are 60 people from Ukraine. The children were pretty noisy by running, talking and laughing. No problem as I was happy that they can laugh. Let them play! When I came back after the show it was totally silent😊.
It is perfectly okay to meet other fans and spend time with them but I will not be the ‘organiser’ anymore. (okay…there is an exception😉).
Tonight I met Alina again. I had a reserved table for my own. We used it together😀.
Spontaneously we decided to spend time together before and after the show and also during the interval. And we had fun. Gosh, I was so tired…if I forgot I would have seen it on this picture…
I was glad that it wasn’t windy anymore. I just had one useful scarf with me…exactly…the secret one. Delfzijl is one of the theaters one cannot choose seats via internet. But second row is not bad😀. I like to socialize, but not always… The man next to me had all the answers (at least that is what he thought…a politician).
The show was a bit different from the one in Hengelo.
I’ll just mention the differences.
– Rocky road to Dublin – back to ‘normal’ – actually back to what I like😉
– I’ll tell me Ma was gone…or I forgot to write it down…
– Mountains of Mourne was added
– And what a great surprise: The Pearlfishers. I absolutely love it!
– No Dutchman and no Holy City.
– Caledonia instead of Four strong winds. As it is one of my favourites, I was happy😊.
– Calypso – Here Matthew said that he didn’t see mouth masks, Daryl put on his one and told us that he was the ‘Masked singer’.
– In my daughter’s eyes was replaced by ‘From here to the moon and back’.
– Whiskey in the jar. According to Matthew there was a survey once: What makes you Irish? Nr. 4 was: When you know when to clap during Whiskey in the jar😂. Like to know the other 4😀. I think I passed this one🤣.
– ‘Remember me’ was dedicated (every night) to Ukraine and the light showed the colours blue and yellow.
Then from Delfzijl to Goes. From the North-east to the South-west. It took as much time as Christel needed (a few days later) from Berlin to Hardenberg – including an hour delay!!! I didn’t have to look for a restaurant. I was going to meet Ute and family. They found a restaurant…a few minutes’ walk from the theater. Well done!
The Celtic Tenors already said that the concerts would be the same every night. They said it before and it never is. At least not to people who listen carefully.
It was great to see Ute and Uli again and now I also met their children. As I wrote before (on fb) beautiful young people…inside and outside.
After we ordered I gave Ute her present. ‘Under embargo’, just for a few days😀.
Ute already reviewed our meeting and dinner. We had a lovely meal.
Now I must think for a present for Manu too!
Once I had mugs made. Now I found out that it became Uli’s tea mug.
On beforehand I asked if ‘Forever young’ was on the set list as it is Uli’s favourite. Fortunately it was😊

– Daryl’s solo was ‘You needed me”
– Caledonia – Matthew’s wide arm gesture was back when he mentions the friends he found on the way
– Matthew was in a hurry to sing ‘The parting glass”. He didn’t realy wait for the other two.
– The encore tonight was ‘The holy city’.
Back home on Sunday till Tuesday morning.
