2008 Irish Christmas Tour: Dublin, Cork and Limerick

I absolutely agree with John Harding about the NCH. It is a great venue.
I was very curious about the songs from the new CD. We decided to buy the CD in Ireland.  We heard some of the songs at the concerts. Now I’m home and listened to all the songs and again and again… It is very different, but I really love it. Not sure yet which one is my favourite.

It was in Dublin that I gave the tenors my handmade present. A booklet with all the limericks which were send in for the anniversary contest. Matthew thought that a bookbinder did the work. So I think it was good enough.
On top I put their own Dutch post stamps. Real stamps. They all thought it was a kind of weird.

The Opera House in Cork was a bit odd. No cloak room. Ice creams for sale in the auditorium during the interval. When we left we saw all the packages on the floor. Terrible.
‘On the banks of my lovely Lee’ was a special song for Cork. I knew this song. I love the melody.

After the Cork concert Christel and I decided to go to Limerick also.
As we accidentally met Matthew before the concert, it wasn’t really a surprise anymore, but he didn’t tell the others.
Though there was no cloak room either, the auditorium was neat. The stage was very low. I’ve never seen that before. I think our tenors and Cathy got used to each other’s ways. For me it was the best performance (of these three concerts).
Someone asked for Nella Fantasia. James announced the song, but no response from the audience. Fortunately they sang it anyway. After the Dervish part the guys came back and James excused for using the wrong name. Mentioning the correct name there was response. James ran to her. Really great. I think excuses are accepted!
The special song for Limerick was ‘There is an Isle’ (Thank you for the correct title James).

It is always fabulous to hear and see The Celtic Tenors live. Can hardly wait for the next one.
