2015 Russborough House

It was a lovely day, June 20th 2015. Oops, it is not a fairy tale…
But it really was a lovely day. Maeve made us a wonderful lunch that we could eat outside in the sun! It really doesn’t rain all the time in Ireland!
Forecast told us that it would rain that night. If it was going to rain maybe we all would be wet, but especially the Celtic Tenors.
Anyway, it was around an hour drive. Posibility to eat something there BBQ-ish, so we left at around 16.00. Show starts at 19.30.
Still beautiful weather, so I enjoyed the drive to Russborough House.
Maeve also invited another friend. A lovely lady. Good to have her with us.
We went to the hippodrome.

We went into the gift shop and I bought myself a pendant. Also got an idea for an outdoor candle. It was on sale for 30 euro. Think I can make it myself…and cheaper?.

This is not what you like to hear, I guess. Think you like to hear about the concert. I grabbed the set list, so I think it is pretty complete.

They started with one of my ‘favourites’ Nessun dorma?.
– No frontiers
– Rocky road to Dublin
– From here to the moon
– Fionnghuala
– Nella fantasia
– James’ solo was Summer of my dreams. Think I just heard it 3 times live. That was a wonderful surprise for me.
– Red-haired Mary
– In my daughter’s eyes
– Matthew’s solo was Galileo (as we heard many times before).
– Star of the county Down
– Somewhere…a brand new one…dedicated to the 6 Irish young people who died in Berkely last week.

After the interval:

– Forever young…another lovely song from the new album. Heard 5 of the new songs now!
– Daryl’s solo was Bring him home. They sang it together once in Gorssel. Maybe you remember. If not…it is on YouTube.
– Leaving of Liverpool
– Then a female singer came in for Song of Bernadette with the guys
– A solo of that singer
– You ain’t goin’ nowhere
– The Dutchman…they sang Zuiderzee so well in The Netherlands and now it was back to Suidersea of something. When singing along I tried to hint them about that?. Afterwards James apologized to ‘the only Dutch member’ in the audience about singing it in English. And said Zuiderzee as it should be pronounced???.
– Westering home
– Santa Lucia
– Caledonia
– O sole mio
– Encore was Time to say goodbye

It was Colm’s birthday. At one point Daryl grabbed a geranium from near us and gave it to Colm. We sang him Happy Birthday all together.
I still miss him as the MD. (Added this in 2019?)

I made the guys an etched glass with the CT logo.
A little candle in it and the remains filled with ‘hopjes’.

A special venue…a special evening.
